The basic concept is this: Combine the investigative horror gameplay prominently featured in games like Call of Cthulhu with elements derived from board and card games, as well as other roleplaying games, to make it easier to explore the genre with my kids and other family members.

Getting Involved

I’ll be posting information about the project in a few communities around the net in the hopes of getting some useful feedback, and we’ll see where things evolve from there. Visit the Community page for links to our Facebook and other social media platforms. You can also send us questions and feedback via email.

Progress

So how is the project coming along? Well, it’s far from complete, but it is playable!

I played the Peru Prologue from Masks of Nyarlathotep (Call of Cthulhu 7th Edition) with my family using this system. I learned a lot from this first actual play, but overall it went great! It definitely succeeded in making this type of game more accessible, and we all had a great time.

I’ve also begun posting some of the actual text I’ve written for the game. Scroll down for more.[/vc_column_text][vc_separator style=”blank_divider”][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/3″][vc_single_image image=”4049″ img_size=”large” add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]Photo of actual play, taken when we played the Peru Prologue for Masks of Nyarlethotep. The players took to laying out all the Clues they had gathered, and we placed miniatures on cards to indicate the party’s current location.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/3″][vc_single_image image=”4327″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center” onclick=”custom_link” link=”https://base113.com/wp/projects/mythos/the-dark-texts”][vc_column_text]I’ve reached a point where I feel comfortable sharing some of the actual text of the game in order to get some feedback. Please take a look…
